The school holidays are just around the corner and for those not going away, the stress of thinking of ideas to keep the kids entertained is probably beginning to creep in. However, there is no need to despair. Keep the kids entertained during the holidays with these fantastic activities…

  1. Make a family scrapbook – collect a bunch of your favourite family photographs on a memory card and have them printed. Buy a scrap book and with the assistance of your little ones, get stuck into meticulously assembling a beautiful family scrapbook.
  2. Build an indoor fort with the kids. You will need a few blankets; cushions, pillows, a couch and a little imagination you’re good to go.
  3. Have a picnic – grab the kids’ bikes, a cooler box filled with treats and head off for a leisurely day. Places like the park or zoo are ideal but obviously avoid deserted areas.
  4. Go camping – there are a number of camping spots around. Search one of the many camping websites, such as campsa.co.za, for additional information.
  5. Take the time to teach your kids a new skill such as drawing, riding a bike or even playing a sport. It is also a fantastic time to bond with your child.
  6. Take the kids to the ice rink for a fun filled day ofiIce-skating.
  7. Visit the Pantomime (there are even great shows from the younger ones).
  8. Find an Acrobranch in your area.
  9. Hold a treasure hunt in your garden – print out a checklist of items to be found.
  10. Set up a “TV quiz game show” in the living room and question them on some trivia relating to their favourite television program.
  11. Visit your local dairy farm.
  12. Play a game of ten-pin bowling or even adventure golf.
