As in any business, building quality relationships is the key to being successful and then to build a strong base of quality people around you, this applies equally to your staff and to your clients.
Strong trusted relationships are essential if you want to run and build a good healthy business. This goes from the people you employ to the people you wish to do business with. I had often heard the phrase that a business is only as strong as its people. Now while it’s a great catch phrase, I never truly understood it as I had never needed to employ people.
This all changed when I decided to try to build and grow a good financial practice, and in trying to keep costs and expenses down, I went through a phase of employing essentially the wrong people. This in the long run was expensive and demoralizing, however now with a true understanding of how quality staff and good people make all the difference, I not only understand the true meaning of the phrase but can see it on a daily basis in my staff, my fellow advisors and most importantly our clients.
Now that I fully understand how good people can add tremendous value, I see how they bring so much more to an organization than just their skills, the mood and vibe in an office environment can be highly contagious – this unfortunately goes for both a good or bad vibe, and this is again why it is so important to have a great bunch of people rather than a mediocre group of disinterested individuals.
Back to business relationships, building a community of like minded business owners via a solid networking platform is a great way to help and promote your business services, and then to get involved in helping others build their business through networking.
